Historical background of Indian constitution/Indian polity M.lakshmikant
The Indian constitution is the supreme constitution of the world which has been written after the study of 60 countries' constitution that is why this is also known as the longest written constitution of the World . The Indian constitution is a written constitution because its most portion are written in an assembly in a definite period of time. Our constitution is written by an assembly which is known as the constitution assembly. This assembly was established on 6th December 1946. To the purpose of creating a constitution for our country. Its first meeting was held on 9th December 1946 and the second on 11th December 1946 . In the second meeting of the constitution assembly Dr. Rajendra Prasad became the temporary President of the Indian Constituent assembly and Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was a draft member of the Indian constitution.
The present ruling system of our country is enjoying India. It did not existed so easily , it is a result of a long time struggle against Englishmen. Indians had countless sacrifices , many women became widows and many mothers lost their lap. After these occurrences this present system of ruling existed which obeys the rules and regulations of the constitution. in this constitution that means the Indian constitution , it has been written that the present ruling system of our country is a "democracy".
Making of Indian constitution
The first person who thought that there should be a constitution for our country was M.N. Roy.
The cabinet mission came into india in 1946 to make a constitution for our country. The cabinet mission was a group of three persons who were sent to our country by the prime minister of Britain with the responsibility of making a constitution for our country. These three members of the cabinet mission were Pethick Lawrence, Stafford Cripps and A.V. Alexander.
The Constituent assembly formed in November 1946 to frame the Indian constitution. Its first meeting was held on 9th December 1946, Head of this meeting was sachidanand sinha (interim). The next (second) meeting was held on 11th December 1946 in which Dr. Rajendra Prasad became the president of the constituent assembly and H.C. Mukherjee vice president
Process of selection of the members of constitution assembly
The Indian constitution took 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to finalise after the expenditure of 63 lakhs 96 thousands 7 hundred 29 rupees (R.S. 63,96,729) around 64 lakhs.
Our constitution was declared passed on 26th nov. 1949.
The last session of the constituent assembly was held on 24th January 1950, also on this day our national anthem and national song was accepted. Our national flag was accepted on 22nd July 1947.
In the fundamental constitution of India there were 22 parts,395 articles and 8 schedules , But at present in our constitution there are 25 parts, 448 articles and 12 schedules. And 105 times amended till now.
Note:- Our constitution was declared passed on 26th November 1949 but came into the force on 26th January 1950, because on this day 1930 poorna swaraj idea was passed in the Lahore session.
